Based in Los Angeles, California, Brad Hock aka “Bardo Bread” is a multimedia artist that uses writing, sculpture, illustration, and stop motion filmmaking to explore how stories and symbols of the past are connected to the present. He views his work as continuation of the constant transformation that these symbols endure over time and telling, in what is essentially the upkeep of an old folk tradition in a contemporary context.
The “Rubber Hose” series is a group of sculptural works from the artist Bardo Bread exploring mutations of nostalgia using clay cartoon themes of the past. The goal is evoke a sense that the viewer has stumbled across a forgotten imaginary friend. Opening windows of wondering connected to the lapse of childhood memories, and strange encounters that bring them back into focus.
